Location and History
Gerrards Cross, 20 miles from central London, straddles the A40 Oxford Road and is often regarded as one the Home Counties top commuter locations. The average selling price for a house in Gerrards Cross is around £1,000,000 and its easy to see why. After the railway line to London was constructed back in 1906 Gerrards Cross was developed and features an abundance of leafy avenues and character properties. Named after the local Gerrard family from the 17th century, Gerrards Cross is quite a recent village compared to some the areas Anglo-Saxon villages. Gerrards Cross has two wonderful commons East and West, both offering lightly wooded walks with defined pathways, ponds and open spaces for events. The much photographed Latchmoor Pond is a peaceful area to just sit, relax and soak up the views.
With its fair share of different schools available, Gerrards Cross is blessed with some excellent private and local schools. Moreland Drive Church of England School is very popular and achieves outstanding results. Excellent private schools include St Marys independent day school (3yrs to 18yrs), Thorpe House Prep School for boys (3yrs to 16yrs), Gayhurst Co-Educational Prep School (3yrs to 11yrs) and Maltmans Green School (2yrs to 11yrs).

The area has many diverse attractions and amenities on offer. Gerrards Cross is blessed with the existence of the Gerrards Cross Community Association at the Memorial Centre on East Common. The GXCA provides adult education, special interest clubs, societies and is a venue for weddings and events. Other amenities include the ancient Iron Age 26 acre Bulstrode Camp, Bulstrode Park offers public footpaths through open countryside, there is a big library, a host of restaurants, bars and even a cinema that brings drinks to your seat!.
General and Transport
One of the biggest draws to Gerrards Cross for the train commuter is the fast service to London Marylebone, which on a direct timetable takes 19 minutes. You can be pulling away from Gerrards Cross railway station and walking through Hyde Park within the hour. The A40 Oxford Road provides access to the M25 at Denham or M40 at Beaconsfield. Heathrow Airport is 20 minutes away and there is a bus services to Uxbridge, Chalfont St Peter and Slough.
