Location and History
Chalfont St Giles nestles in the Misbourne Valley between Amersham and Chalfont St Peter amidst rolling Chiltern countryside. Its easy to see why this area is accredited as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village centre retains that special combination of rural charm and convenience shopping with the village green, duck pond and a host of local shops on offer. The Church of England St Giles Church dates back to the 12th century and along with Parliamentarian John Miltons Cottage on Deanway (open to the public), Chalfont St Giles enjoys its share of historic architecture and listed buildings.
Within walking distance from most houses in the village are the two local schools and playgroup. Chalfont St Giles Infant and Junior School are located in School Lane and Parsonage Road and work effectively as one with a Headteacher looking after both. Chalfont St Giles Junior School is a stepping stone to higher education as the area has access to some excellent Grammar Schools. Chalfont St Giles offers a good choice of day to day shopping facilities to include a Post Office, butcher, greengrocer, bakers, a pharmacy, supermarket and local independent stores. The Doctors Surgery is located in Townfield Lane and there are also local chiropractors, dentists and hairdressers close by. For the sporting enthusiast Chalfont St Giles has a golf club, cricket club, bowls club, tennis club and football club to name a few. Every year there is the Chalfont St Giles Show, regarded as the highlight of the village events and well known across the county as one of the best shows of its type. Profits from the show are awarded to local charities and good causes. Are you a walker? If so, the village is on the route of the South Bucks Way providing miles of open country walking including links with The Ridgeway path. A walk to Amersham Old Town and back is about a 4-mile round trip through the attractive Misbourne Valley.

Situated by the A413 Amersham Road, Chalfont St Giles is close to convenient transport links. For the commuter, there are railway and Tube stations at nearby Amersham, Little Chalfont (Metropolitan Line), Gerrards Cross, Seer Green and Jordans (Chiltern Line). Junction 2 of the M40 motorway at Beaconsfield and M25 at Denham are only 10 minutes drive away. Heathrow Airport is 25 minutes away and there a bus services to Uxbridge, Chalfont St Peter, Gerrards Cross and Slough.
